Find out who the great impersonator is | Pop Recap #20
A bite-sized Pop Recap featuring entertainment news from the week.
Happy Sunday! Welcome to another edition of the Pop Recap newsletter, filled with all the trending things you need to know in the entertainment world. It's super exciting that this is the 20th edition of the newsletter! I feel like time has flown by so fast. Similar to last week, this week’s edition will be abbreviated as I am still on vacation - but we will be back to regular programming next week, with special editions up ahead 😉
Here’s your quick rundown of news from this week…
🎥 A trailer for the Keke Palmer and SZA led comedy, One Of Them Days, has been released and Spider-Man 4 has received a release date of July 24, 2026.
🎭Joey Fatone is joining the cast of &Juliet in January, SMASH will begin performances on Broadway on April 10, and Back to the Future’s final Broadway performance will be on January 5.
🎶Shakira, Tyler, the Creator and Remi Wolf have announced new tour dates, Lady Gaga released a new single and Alessia Cara has announced her fourth studio album, Love & Hyperbole, will release on February 14. Plus! Olivia Rodrigo walked the red carpet in Los Angeles alongside Chappell Roan and Laufey for the premiere of her upcoming Netflix Guts Tour concert film and Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX and Chappell Roan will headline Primavera Sound 2025.
📺 A trailer for Season 2 of Severance has been released, Jimmy Fallon is throwing a “Holiday Seasoning Spectacular,” and more details have been released about the Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover.
👍 I normally end with some picks of the week and both of my recommendations this week are music projects. Katie Gavin (MUNA) and Halsey both released authentically crafted albums that I think are worth a listen.

Halsey’s Great Impersonator notably had a very interesting marketing campaign that’s worth looking into. Most recently, the star spent the 18 days leading up to the release to pay homage to the artists who influenced the project by recreating each of their signature looks.
Halsey as Dolly Parton, Bruce Springsteen, Aaliyah and Cher.
The next edition of Pop Recap will be out next week.
I’ll leave you with some pics from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour in Miami, which was so much fun! I experienced my very first ever Taylor rain show (and the final one of the Eras tour), plus Florence Welch appeared as a special guest to sing “Florida!!!” and Karma was in fact the guy on the Chiefs.
I’ll also be sharing more from the tour on social media and online right here, so stay tuned. In honor of 1989’s 10-year anniversary, check out this mashup of “Out of the Woods” and “All You Had to Do Was Stay,” performed as part of the surprise song acoustic set during the show.
Thanks for reading this week’s edition of the Pop Recap newsletter! If you enjoyed it, make sure to share with a friend. Stay connected with the Pop Recap and Fan Fave community on social media.
