Everyone is in "Knives Out 3": Pop Recap #1
Happy Sunday and welcome to the VERY FIRST EDITION of Pop Recap!!! This week was exciting and filled with a lot of interesting new announcements. To kick things off, let’s start with a quick look at what’s trending online…
PinkPantheress has sparked an internet debate after stating that a song “doesn’t need to be longer than two minutes and 30 seconds,” and that bridges and long outros are not needed. Other musicians have now chimed in, including Dionne Warwick, who wrote “Artists are allowed to create their art in any way they choose. However, I do believe a bridge is important.”
In an interview with the Zach Sang Show, Dylan Minnette says he stepped back from acting after the success of “13 Reasons Why” because it “started to feel like a bit of a job.” Minnette, who has since found success with his band Wallows, says he likes to follow “what feels natural and inspiring at the time.”
Nepo baby discourse is back. Between North West’s controversial performance in a 30th Anniversary concert of The Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl and Ben Platt kicking off a two-week residency at the Palace Theater, the internet is heating up. Platt recently addressed his feelings about being a nepo baby in an interview with Elle, stating “I absolutely acknowledge the privilege, and the access, and the leg up that I have by being a nepo baby and have really tried throughout my whole career to do good on that opportunity by working hard to meet the opportunity and make the most of it, and just to lead by example and treat people with respect and be somebody that people want to work with because of me, not because of who my pop is.”
Disney Parks has shared a full ride POV of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, set to open at Walt Disney World on June 28.
Also…the Four Seasons Orlando baby finally made it to the Four Seasons Orlando.
Disney has released a brand new trailer for “Moana 2,” in theaters November 27. The trailer broke the record for the most watched trailer for a Disney animated movie, with 178 million views in 24 hours.
Theo James to star alongside Aaron Taylor Johnson in upcoming heist thriller “Fuze.”
Kerry Washington, Daryl McCormack, Jeremy Renner, Mila Kunis, Glenn Close, Josh O’Connor and Cailee Spaeny join “Wake Up Dead Man,” the third film in the “Knives Out” franchise.
Nicholas Galitzine to star as He-Man in Amazon MGM’s “Masters of the Universe.”

Stephanie Mills will return to Broadway as Hermes in Hadestown starting July 2. The Grammy Award winner is known for originating the role of Dorothy in The Wiz on Broadway.
Audra McDonald to star in the newly announced revival of Gypsy, coming to Broadway this Fall.
Max Wolf Friedlich’s play Job, starring Peter Friedman and Sydney Lemmon, will begin performances on July 15 at the Hayes Theater. The limited Broadway engagement comes after two sold out off-Broadway runs.
Ben Platt has kicked off a two-week residency to reopen the Palace Theater on Broadway. Each night, Platt is featuring a special guest. So far, Kacey Musgraves, Kristin Chenoweth, and Leslie Odom Jr. have appeared at the shows.
The Outsiders musical announced a national tour, set to kick off in Tulsa, Oklahoma next Fall.
Empire, a new musical about the Empire State Building, announced a 12 week run run at New World Stages.
Jennifer Lopez has cancelled her 2024 summer tour. The “This is Me…Live” tour was set to kick off in Orlando, FL on June 26.
Lollapalooza announced its 2024 Aftershows lineup. Chappell Roan, Tate McRae, Tyla, Faye Webster and many more are set to play small capacity venues across Chicago during the festival weekend.
Britney Spears interviewed Tate McRae for GEN V magazine.

Variety has unveiled its lineup for this year’s Actors on Actors series. This year, Quinta Brunson, Robert Downey Jr., Kim Kardashian, and more will participate in the one-on-one interviews. The conversations begin airing on June 3.
FX has released the official trailer for season three of The Bear, streaming June 27.
Hacks has been renewed for season four at Max.
The Vince Staples Show has been renewed for season two at Netflix.
The series finale of Station 19 aired on ABC.
