💗 Pick of the Week
One of Them Days is a wild and hilarious buddy comedy film starring Keke Palmer and SZA, with Lil Rel Howery, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Katt Williams, Janelle James and Maude Apatow rounding out the cast.
Palmer and SZA play Dreux and Alyssa, two best friends who have one day to find $1500 for their rent, or else they get evicted. What starts as a simple plan quickly spirals into a series of chaotic antics, pushing their friendship to the limit. While the film delivers plenty of hilarious, over-the-top moments, it also has heart, with both characters going on a journey of self-discovery. The movie is reminiscent of other buddy comedies like First Sunday or Lottery Ticket, but its refreshing to see a film in the genre with two Black women as the leads. Palmer always shines as an animated and comedic actress, but I was really impressed by SZA, who was a natural in her feature film debut. With lots of laughs and undeniable chemistry between the two leads, One of Them Days keeps you entertained from start to finish, leaving you wanting more.
One of Them Days is now streaming in theaters.
