A Special Update from Pop Recap

Happy Sunday everyone! After nearly a year of weekly Pop Recaps, I’m excited to share that we’re entering a new era.

Pop Recap has been my weekly space to share what’s happening in music, TV, film, theater and what’s trending online and it’s meant so much to have you reading along with me here every Sunday.

However, Fan Fave Media has grown a lot since I launched this newsletter. What started as a small podcast in 2022 has since expanded into an entire media brand, with various shows, stories and ideas. I’ve been making some intentional decisions lately to recenter my energy where it all began: podcasting. This had lead to me pausing other projects, like Sunday Morning Live, and now Pop Recap’s weekly format.

So what’s going to happen to this newsletter?

Pop Recap will evolve into a monthly format, featuring a more curated, commentary-driven roundup that captures the month in pop culture as it was. New editions will release on the final Sunday of each month, beginning April 27. Here’s some of what you can expect in the new format:

• A rundown of the biggest stories in pop culture

• A list of things you may have missed

• Pop culture fun facts or throwbacks

• Love It / Leave It – my quick takes on what stood out this month (or what I’m ready to leave behind)

• Plugs for new podcast episodes and behind-the-scenes content from other areas of Fan Fave Media

I’ll also be resuming the inclusion of occasional special editions for award shows, major moments, or events I attend, similar to what was done last year with events like Lollapalooza or the MTV VMAs. 

An exclusive special announcement!

As I continue my journey in podcasting, I’m excited to share that in less than a month, the reimagined version of the show I first launched in August 2022 is premiering. Formerly known as the Fan Fave with Katrina podcast, School of Pop, will debut on Tuesday, April 22. I have been chipping away at this show for the past six months, tirelessly working to pull it together alongside working full-time, going to grad school part-time and balancing all of the other projects under the Fan Fave Media umbrella. I am extremely excited about what I’ve put together and I cannot wait to share more soon!

Since you all are my loyal newsletter subscribers, you get to be the first to hear the special deets of the show! School of Pop is where curiosity meets pop culture. As your host and study buddy, I will be exploring the stories, trends, and cultural shifts that define entertainment. Each "semester" takes a deep dive into a new "course,” featuring interviews with experts, industry professionals, and passionate fans. In the premiere season, we're exploring the ethics of fan culture, unpacking the behaviors, boundaries, and unspoken rules that shape modern fandoms. New episodes will drop weekly on Tuesdays, beginning April 22.
