🗞️ MAKING HEADLINES 🗞️
🕴🏽The theme for the 2025 Met Gala has been revealed to be “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Attendees are encouraged to dress in styles reflecting Black men throughout history. Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams, Anna Wintour and LeBron James have been named co-chairs. The event will take place on May 5.
💚💖 It's been a great week for Wicked fans! Tickets for the movie officially went on sale, the soundtrack will release on November 22 and Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo finally recreated the iconic Wicked poster.
Broadway vs Film
🎤 Netflix has announced John Mulaney will host a live variety talk show on the platform beginning next year. Nothing has been announced regarding the content of the show, but if it's anything like his Everybody’s in L.A. series, I’m sold.
⁉️Shawn Mendes has postponed the release of his album, Shawn, to November 15. Joe Jonas also postponed the release of his album, Music For People who Believe in Love, to an undisclosed date. Both projects were set to release on October 18, so now fans online are speculating that the dates were moved to avoid competition because a major, record-breaking artist may be releasing a surprise album on that date. Taylor Swift? Beyonce? Harry Styles? The Weeknd? Who could it be…
To be honest, I think it's just a coincidence. Joe Jonas didn’t change his album release to a specific date, which makes it feel less strategic, and Shawn Mendes also revealed he is doing a special concert film alongside his album on November 14, so maybe the push had to do with the logistics of that project. I guess we’ll just have to see!
🔥 Travis Scott brought “FE!N” to MetLife Stadium. The massive One Night Only in UTOPIA show made Scott the first rapper to headline the New Jersey venue, so he brought with him several special guests and a drop tower to make the show massive. Check out this clip of the iconic moment of Scott playing his internet viral track “FE!N,” featuring a crowd that I wouldn’t dare be caught in.

👍🏽 PICK OF THE WEEK 👍🏽
I’m a little late on this week’s pick, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the FOX game show The Floor, which actually premiered for the first time last year. I enjoy watching game shows, although I usually stick to the ones on Game Show Network— I’m convinced I could win if I ever competed on Hey Yahoo! or Split Second. I don’t typically watch a lot of network game shows, so I was first introduced to The Floor by this painfully accurate Saturday Night Live sketch. I guess I should've known then that the show might be worth watching, especially since it was only in its first season and already had a parody.
This time around, I decided to tune in because I heard there were a couple familiar faces competing this season. The Floor is so much fun. Here’s how it works: 100 contestants each begin with one square on the floor. Each contestant comes in with their own “specialty,” although to my understanding they choose from a list, instead of making up their own, so that's why we get oddball options like “junk drawer items” or “on the playground.” Anyways, a contestant is randomly selected and they can select someone directly next to them to challenge. Challenges are time-based, with contestants alternating back and forth to name what they see on the screen. For example, if the category is social media, they may be shown images of app logos and need to call out the name of that app. The clock is always ticking, and if they “pass,” they lose more time. The first contestant to run out of time loses the challenge. The winner takes over their opponent’s square, while the loser gets sent home. The goal of the show is to occupy as much space on the floor as possible. Each episode, more contestants are eliminated until one person controls the entire floor at the end of the season, winning $250,000.
What I love about The Floor is its simplicity. Plus, it's a game show that’s just as entertaining to play from home, as the audience isn’t clued in on anything either. My only warning about the series is that it can be incredibly frustrating when a contestant stumbles on an answer that’s so obvious to you, especially if its in their “expert” category. For example, the second episode of this current season features a duel under the category “Taylor Swift songs,” and I’m pretty sure I would have scored a perfect result if I were there! Still, I totally recommend checking this one out. The trailer is below.
New episodes of The Floor air Wednesdays on FOX and stream on Hulu the following day.
