Happy Sunday to my fellow fans of pop culture! Let’s take a look at this week’s trending topics.
Katy Perry has released her brand new single and music video “Woman’s World” after weeks of teasers. But the new drop is facing criticism online for catering to the male gaze, having Dr. Luke as a producer and being stuck in the past. Perry most recently responded to the backlash by claiming the video is supposed to be satire.
A fifth “Shrek” movie has been announced, set to release sixteen years after the last one on July 1, 2026. Eddie Murphy, Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz are all set to reprise their roles.
The 2024 ESPY Awards took place on July 11 and ESPN honored the biggest names in sports. Check out the full winner’s list here.

Dark comedy Oh, Mary! officially opened on Broadway on July 11.
The cast for Once Upon A Mattress has been revealed, with Ana Gasteyer, Will Chase and Daniel Breaker among those joining Sutton Foster and Michael Urie on Broadway. The musical will run for 18 weeks at the Hudson Theatre beginning on July 31.
